This is a revised version of something I published on this blog a while back. At the time, I was surprised by how many people took it to be genuine. I had assumed it was general knowledge that the first Gilgamesh tablets were not uncovered until the 1850s, and Akkadian not reliably deciphered until the end of the century; if attributing this scholarly edition to Nabokov’s Delalande wasn’t clue enough.
