There's a lot I could say in reply to this Gwilym, but the short answer is: yes. Our technologies of visual reproduction are so sophisticated now, they achieve an affective immediacy and a super-linguistic (in this, our post-Babel linguistically divided world) eloquence that just leaves the poor old novel in teh shade. Not sure why I'm still writing the stupid things, to be honest.
